Resumo: O agronegócio de flores e plantas ornamentais está se consolidando no Brasil. O perfil do produtor brasileiro é de pequeno porte e caracterizado como agricultura familiar. A produção de flores e plantas ornamentais tem um papel importante na economia, gerando empregos e distribuindo melhor a renda. No Distrito Federal a produção de floricultura é realizada pelo pequeno produtor e por sua família, tornando-a assim agricultura familiar. Esta pesquisa tem caráter exploratório e descritivo e foi realizada com o auxílio de um questionário misto para descrever e avaliar o perfil socioeconômico do produtor de flores e plantas ornamentais do Distrito Federal. A análise dos dados foi realizada pela análise estatística bidimensional para testar e validar os resultados obtidos. Os resultados em relação ao sexo dos produtores de flores e plantas ornamentais foram: homens (24,34%) com pelo menos 2 membros da família (16,98%), e para a produção de mudas, as mulheres (16,98%), com mais de 2 membros da família (13,21%). O estado civil dos produtores de flores divide-se em casados (58,82%) e solteiros (23,33%). Concluiu-se que o perfil socioeconômico do produtor de flores e plantas ornamentais é de caráter misto, agricultura familiar, sinais de amadorismo e não possui renda exclusivamente advinda da produção.

Abstract: The flower and ornamental plants agribusiness in Brazil are in the consolidating stage. The profile of the Brazilian small producer is mainly characterized as family farming. The production of flowers and ornamental plants plays an important role in the economy, generating jobs and distributing income better. In the Federal District, small producers and his family carry out the production, thus making it family farming. This research proposes an exploratory and descriptive analysis by a mixed questionnaire to evaluate Federal District flowers and ornamental plants producers` socioeconomic profile. The data analysis was evaluated using a two-dimensional statistical analysis to test and validate all achieved results. The result about the gender of the producers of flowers and ornamental plants were men (24.34%) with at least two family members (16.98%), and for the production of seedlings, women (16.98%), with more than two family members (13.21%). The marital status of flower producers is married (58.82%) and single (23.33%). It was concluded that the producer of flowers and ornamental plants' socioeconomic profile is mixed, family farming, signs of amateurism, and does not have income exclusively from production.

RESUMO: Este artigo analisou a concentração regional da produção de lenha nativa do Rio Grande do Norte - Brasil, no período de 1990 a 2017. As informações da lenha nativa foram obtidas da produção da extração vegetal e da silvicultura, disponíveis no Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE). Analisou a conjuntura, a distribuição espacial da produção de lenha estadual por meio os quartis e mensurou a concentração por meio dos indicadores: Coeficiente de Gini (G), Índice de Concentração Compreensiva (CCI), Índice de Herfindahl-Hirschman (HHI) e Razão de Concentração [CR(k)]. Os resultados mostraram que houve decréscimo de -2,76% a.a. na produção de lenha nativa estadual, partindo de 5.280 x10³ m³ (1990) para 777 x10³ m³ (2017). O quartil municipal revelou que a maioria dos municípios produz pouca lenha; apesar do G ter inferido uma desigualdade muito forte a absoluta para os municípios produtores de lenha e fraca a nula para as mesorregiões, já o CCI mostrou para os municípios que é não concentrado e as mesorregiões tem concentração regional; HHI corroborou com esta afirmação mostrando um mercado altamente competitivo para os municípios e microrregiões e concentrado para as mesorregiões produtoras de lenha; o CR(k) dos quatro maiores municípios foi constatada uma concentração moderadamente baixa. Conclui-se que a lenha nativa do estado do Rio Grande do Norte possui estrutura de mercado competitiva.

ABSTRACT: This paperexamined the regional concentration of native fuelwood production in Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, between 1990-2017. Information on native fuelwood was gathered fromforestry activitiescollected by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). This studyanalyzed the current situation and the spatial distribution of the state’s fuelwood production by quartiles. The following indicators were used to measure market concentration: Gini Coefficient (G), Comprehensive Concentration Index (CCI), Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI) and Concentration Ratio [CR(k)]. In Rio Grande do Norte, there was a -2.76% annual decrease in the production of native fuelwood, from 5,280 x10³ m³ (1990) to 777 x10³ m³ (2017). Classification of the municipalities by quartile revealed that most municipalities had low fuelwood production. The G inferred a very strong to absolute inequality for the municipalities and a weak to null inequality for the mesoregions.The CCI demonstrated no market concentration in the municipalities and a regional concentration in the mesoregions. The HHI corroborated the CCI by affirming the presence of a competitive market for the municipalities and microregions and a concentrated market in the mesoregions.The CR(k) of the four largest municipalities indicated a moderately low concentration. This study concluded that there is a competitive market structure for native fuelwood inthe state of Rio Grande do Norte.

RESUMO Diante da transição na estrutura energética mundial, com o deslocamento do consumo dos combustíveis fósseis para fonte renováveis e limpas, registra-se um aumento da demanda por biomassa florestal para fins energéticos, em especial os pellets de madeira, e as importações têm crescido nos últimos anos. Logo, este artigo analisou a concentração mundial das importações de pellets, de 2012 a 2018. Os dados de importações de pellets foram obtidos da Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations – FAO e para mensurar a concentração foram utilizados os indicadores: Razão de Concentração [CR(k)], Índice de Hirschman-Herfindal (HHI) Índice de Entropia de Theil (E), Coeficiente de desigualdade de Gini (G) e o Índice de Hall-Tideman (HTI). Os resultados apontaram um crescimento de 16,67% a.a. da importação mundial de pellets, saindo de 8,76 milhões toneladas (t), em 2012, para 22,15 milhões de t em 2018. Quanto aos índices de concentração, o CR(k) indicou concentração muito alta para os países e alta nos subcontinentes. O HHI apresentou concentração alta para os continentes e subcontinentes e uma concentração moderada para os países. A Entropia e o HTI corroboraram as análises encontradas no HHI. O G apontou forte desigualdade para todos os níveis territoriais e apresentou tendências de redução na desigualdade a partir de 2015. A redução da concentração, nos últimos anos de estudo, encontra relação com a expansão e a difusão tecnológica de conversão energética da biomassa densificada, o que torna o combustível mais acessível.

ABSTRACT Faced with the transition in the global energy structure with the shift in consumption of fossil fuels to renewable and clean sources, there has been an increase in the demand for forest biomass for energy purposes, especially wood pellets, and imports have grown in recent years. Therefore, this study analyzed the world concentration of pellet imports from 2012 to 2018. Data on pellet imports were obtained from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and the following indicators were used to measure the concentration: Concentration Ratio [CR(k)], Hirschman-Herfindal Index (HHI), Theil Entropy Index (E), Gini Inequality Coefficient (G) and the Hall-Tideman Index (HTI). The results showed a growth of 16.67% p.a. of global pellet imports, from 8.76 million tons (t) in 2012 to 22.15 million tons in 2018. The CR(k) indicated very high concentration for countries and high in the subcontinents. The HHI showed a high concentration for continents and subcontinents and a moderate concentration for countries. Entropy and HTI corroborated the analyzes found in the HHI. The G pointed out strong inequality for all territorial levels and showed trends towards a reduction in inequality as of 2015. The reduction in the concentration in the final years of study is related to the expansion and technological diffusion of energy conversion of the densified biomass, which makes this fuel more affordable.

Resumo O manejo florestal é uma boa alternativa à exploração predatória dos recursos florestais. Para aumentar a adoção do manejo florestal e evitar o desmatamento ilegal e a ocupação desordenada das florestas públicas, o Governo instituiu a política de concessão florestal. O estudo teve por objetivo descrever a trajetória da política de concessão florestal no Brasil, abordando seus avanços, bem como os aspectos positivos e negativos da modalidade de gestão de florestas públicas supracitada. O trabalho foi realizado por meio de revisão bibliográfica sobre o manejo florestal, com destaque para as concessões florestais no Brasil. Atualmente, o Brasil possui 6 (seis) FLONAs sob concessão, sendo 4 (quatro) delas no estado do Pará, e 2 (duas) em Rondônia. Até o momento, as concessões florestais não atenderam às expectativas iniciais. Como pontos positivos, pode-se observar a redução da vulnerabilidade das florestas sob concessão e a geração de empregos diretos, beneficiando a população local. A destinação de áreas para a concessão ficou abaixo do planejado pelo governo. No entanto, apesar da lenta implantação, espera-se que haja uma rápida expansão devido às lições adquiridas com os primeiros contratos. Assim, acredita-se que o processo de concessão florestal brasileiro está amadurecendo de forma lenta, mas gradual. As atividades de monitoramento e fiscalização são consideradas elementos frágeis das concessões florestais, sendo necessárias ações que garantam a sustentabilidade das florestas. A redução da exploração ilegal é um desafio para o governo. Assim, caso o mercado seja abarrotado de madeira advinda da exploração ilegal, o esforço realizado para implantar a política de concessão florestal poderá ter sido em vão. Por fim, as concessões florestais são recentes no Brasil, mas estão evoluindo a cada ano, tanto em quantidade de áreas destinadas quanto de produtividade de madeira. Nesse contexto, pesquisas se fazem necessárias para um maior conhecimento dos resultados apresentados pela gestão.

Abstract The forest management is a good alternative over predatory exploitation of the forestry resources. To increase the forest management acceptance, avoid the illegal deforestation and the disordered occupation of public forests, the Government has implemented the forest concession policy. The work was performed by a literature review on the forest management, highlighting the forest concessions in Brazil. Currently, Brazil has 6 (six) forest areas under concession, 4 (four) of them in Pará state, and 2 (two) in Rondônia state. So far, the forest concessions did not attend the initial expectations. As good aspects, it is observed the reduction of vulnerability in forests under concessions and the creation of direct jobs, benefiting the local population. The destination of areas for concession was below the governmental expectations. However, despite the slow implementation, it is expected a quick expansion due the lessons learned with the firsts contracts. Therefore, it is believed that the Brazilian forest concession process is maturing gradually, although in a slow way. The monitoring and supervision activities are considered fragile elements of the forest concession, proving necessary actions to ensure the sustainability of forests. The reduction of the illegal exploitation remains a challenge for the government. If the market is supplied with wood from illegal exploitation, the effort to implement forest concessions policies might have been in vain. Finally, forest concessions are recent in Brazil, but they are evolving each year, both in number of the designated areas and in wood productivity. In this context, researchesare necessary for a greater knowledge of the results presented by the management.

ABSTRACT Forest concessions were implemented in Brazil as a way to increase the areas of sustainable forest management. Little is known about the financial viability of forest management in Brazil, which is one of its main bottlenecks. In this context, the aim of the study was to evaluate the financial viability of an investment in forest concession. In order to do so, the Net Present Value (NPV), Periodic Equivalent Benefit (PEB), Internal Rate of Return (IRR) and Real Options Analysis (ROA) were adopted, and the option of abandonment was also analyzed. As a variable for ROA analysis, the productivity (m³.ha-1) at the first years of forest concession under study was adopted. The NPV of the investment corresponds to US$ 8.04.m-³, the PEB was US$ 0.52.m-³.year-1 and the IRR, 20.75%. In order to be considered feasible, the forest concession must have a minimum productivity of 17.75 m³.ha-1. Of the 861 managerial decisions, the option to proceed with the investment was adopted in 237 nodes (27.53%), and the decision to abandon was exercised in 624 nodes (72.47%). This is a worrying result for the concessionaire companies and also for the management entities of the forest concessions, mainly when comparing with the concessions reality, where abandonment is an option that has been performed. It can be concluded that the high probability of abandoning highlights a fragility of forest concessions. ROA proved to be a good methodology to complement traditional methods of financial analysis, presenting satisfactory results in aiding decision-making.

Resumo A evolução da política energética dos países desenvolvidos, associada à procura por fontes renováveis como a biomassa florestal, impulsionou, desde o início dos anos 2000, o crescimento da produção de pellets de madeira no mundo. O mercado de pellets tornou-se exigente em qualidade e deve lidar com a concorrência de outras fontes de energia, requerendo dos produtores um controle rigoroso de custo bem como um bom domínio técnico da produção. Dessa forma, realizou-se uma revisão bibliográfica sobre os aspectos técnicos da produção de pellets e as possibilidades e as exigências do mercado para que o Brasil possa aproveitar as oportunidades e valorizar o seu potencial florestal.

Abstract The evolution of the energy policy of developed countries, coupled with the demand for renewable sources such as forest biomass, has boosted the growth of wood pellets throughout the world since the early 2000s. The pellet market has become a demanding quality brand and must deal with competition from other energy sources, requiring producers to a strict control of costs as well as good technical expertise of production. Thus, a literature review was carried out on the technical aspects of pellet production and the possibilities and requirements of the market so that Brazil could seize opportunities and enhance its forest potential.

RESUMO Este artigo analisou a disparidade do valor bruto de produção dos produtos madeireiros do extrativismo vegetal das mesorregiões da Paraíba, Brasil, no período de 1994 a 2017. Os indicadores empregados foram: o quociente locacional (QL), o coeficiente locacional (CL), o coeficiente de redistribuição (CRED), o coeficiente de associação geográfica (Cag), o coeficiente de especialização (CE) e o coeficiente de reestruturação (Cr). Os resultados apontaram que a lenha foi o principal produto madeireiro e a mesorregião Sertão paraibano maior relevância, elevando a disparidade entre as regiões; o CRED apontou maior mudança para o carvão vegetal; a Mata Paraibana foi mais especializada em lenha e a mesorregião da Borborema apresentou a maior reestruturação em todos os períodos estudados. O estudo evidenciou que o VBP dos produtos madeireiros nativos ocorreu, principalmente, nas regiões mais áridas do estado para atender a demanda energética local e circunvizinha, com destaque aos segmentos de cerâmica vermelha e gesso.

ABSTRACT This paper analyzed the disparity in the gross production value of timber products from the state of Paraíba, Brazil, between 1994 and 2017. The indicators used were: the locational quotient (Lq), the coefficient of location (Cl), the coefficient of redistribution (Cred), the coefficient of geographic association (Cga), the coefficient of specialization (Cs) and the coefficient of restructuring (Cr). The results obtained indicated that wood was the main timber product extracted in the state of Paraíba, with the Sertão paraibano region being of greater relevance, increasing the disparity between the regions; the Cred pointed out greater change for charcoal extraction; the Mata Paraibana region was the most specialized region, especially for wood extraction; and the Borborema region presented the greatest restructuring in all studied periods. The study evidenced that the extraction of wood products mainly occurred in the more arid regions of the state with the purpose of population subsistence or industrial use, especially in the red ceramics and plaster segments for which wood can be used to generate heat and thermoelectric power.

ABSTRACT Housing deficit is a problem that affects low-income populations in Brazil, with over 6 million families affected nationwide and approximately 631 thousand in the North region of the country. Ordinance no. 318/2014 of the Brazilian Ministry of Cities authorized the construction of popular housing using timber as raw material in that region. The objective of this study was to establish the unit cost of a wooden dwelling, referenced in the project Popular Wooden Housing (PWH) developed by the Laboratory of Forest Products and the University of Brasília (UNB) for the National Rural Housing Program (NRHP). The Basic Unit Cost (BUC/m2 ) methodology was used, with collection of prices in Rio Branco, capital of the state of Acre, for composition of the Final Unit Cost (FCU/m2) of a wood construction. Mean cost of R$ 934.52/m2 was observed from September 2015 to April 2016. Feasibility of wood construction was demonstrated by a final cost per m2 28.06% lower than that of a conventional masonry house.

ABSTRACT This work analyses Brazilian tropical wood exports, taking into consideration their performance and competitiveness from 2004 to 2011. The present paper aims to: a) determine the competitiveness of exports of goods: sawn wood and tropical plywood; and b) compare the performance of both products. The Constant Market Share model and the Revealed Comparative Advantage Index (RVAI) estimated competitiveness and performance. The results show that sawn wood has proven to be the only product to provide competitive gains over the analyzed period.

RESUMO Este trabalho analisou a produção mundial de MDF e o seu grau de concentração, entre os anos de 1995 e 2016. Para mensurar e analisar esta concentração foram usados a Razão de Concentração [CR(k)], o Índice de Herfindahl-Hirschman (HHI), o Índice de Entropia de Theil (E), o Índice de Hall e Tideman (HTI), o Índice de Concentração Compreensível (CCI) e o Índice de Gini (G). A produção de mundial de MDF cresceu 12,81% a.a., no período de 1995 a 2016, chegando a 99 milhões de m3 no final da série temporal. A China assumiu a hegemonia em 2001 e chegou em 2016 com cerca de 60% da oferta mundial de MDF. O CR(k) da produção mundial de MDF inferiu uma alta concentração, principalmente, no CR(4) a partir de 2009. O CR(8) manteve-se com uma média de concentração moderadamente alto. Nesse período mais de 90% da oferta ficaram retidas no CR(20). Os índices HHI, E e HTI corroboram de que há alta concentração na produção mundial de MDF, assim como o CCI no período estudado. A desigualdade indicada pelo G também apresentou comportamento crescente e foi classificada em forte e muito forte. Os indicadores de concentração se mostraram eficientes em avaliar o grau de concentração da oferta mundial de MDF.

ABSTRACT This papaer analyzed the global MDF production and its concentration degree between 1995 and 2016. In order to measure and analyze this concentration, we used the Concentration Ratio [CR(k)], the Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI), Theil Entropy Index (E), Hall and Tideman Index (HTI), the Comprehensive Concentration Index (CCI), and the Gini Index (G). Global MDF production grew 12.81% p.a. from 1995 to 2016, reaching 99 million m3 at the end of the time series. China took over the hegemony in 2001 and arrived in 2016 with about 60% of the world’s MDF supply. The CR(k) of the global MDF production inferred a high concentration, mainly in the CR(4) from 2009. The CR(8) remained with a moderately high average concentration. During this period more than 90% of the offer was retained in the CR(20). The HHI, E and HTI indices corroborate that there is high concentration in global MDF production, as well as the CCI in the studied period. The inequality indicated by G also presented increasing behavior and was classified as strong and very strong. The concentration indicators were efficient in evaluating the concentration degree of the world MDF supply.

RESUMO Este trabalho testa a importância relativa de um grupo de temas pré-selecionados, contribuindo para a construção de um Sistema de Informações Florestais para o Brasil – SIFLOR-BR. A metodologia empregada se pauta em um conjunto de 12 módulos temáticos e 58 subtemas para serem avaliados por um grupo de pessoas (método de juízes holístico). As informações referem: 1) Cobertura florestal; 2) Florestas de produção; 3) Propriedade das terras florestais; 4) Indústria de base florestal; 5) Mercado de produtos florestais; 6) Tecnologia de produtos; 7) Biodiversidade florestal; 8) Mudanças florestais e climáticas; 9) Economia e estatística florestal; 10) Legislação florestal; 11) Certificação florestal; 12) Ensino e pesquisa florestal. Conclui-se que as principais informações que deve conter o SIFLOR concentram-se nos temas Produção e Economia florestal.

ABSTRACT Determinants for a forest information system. This paper tests the relative importance of a group of pre-selected themes for the construction of a Forestry Information System for Brazil – BR-SIFLOR. The methodology that was used lies on a set of 12 thematic modules and 58 sub-themes in order to be evaluated by a group of people (holistic judging method). The information relates to: 1) Forest cover; 2) Production Forests; 3) Ownership of Forest Lands; 4) Forest-based Industry; 5) Forest Products Market; 6) Technology Products; 7) Forest Biological Diversity; 8) Climate Change and Forest; 9) Forest Economics and Statistics; 10) Forest Law; 11) Forest Certification; 12) Forestry Teaching and Research. We conclude that the key information to be included in the SIFLOR focus on themes of Forest Economy and Production.

RESUMO Neste trabalho, compararam-se os valores gerados pela análise econômica tradicional (Valor Presente Líquido - VPL) com as Opções Reais. Aplicou-se o método proposto por Copeland & Antikarov para opções arco-íris, devido às três variáveis estocásticas selecionadas, com decisão de abandono caso o valor do projeto com flexibilidade fosse menor que o valor do ativo subjacente. Possibilitando a geração do valor de flexibilidade para que o empreendedor tenha mais confiança na tomada de decisão no momento de investir em um projeto com Sistema Agroflorestal, com a visualização de diversos cenários em uma única análise. Os resultados demonstraram que a análise de viabilidade econômica com Opções Reais propicia a melhor visualização dos possíveis cenários, dentro de um intervalo gerado pela volatilidade dos preços. O VPL adotado como o valor do ativo subjacente foi de R$ 5.684,32, com a taxa de desconto (WACC) de 9,95% e taxa de juros livre de risco de 7,5%. Para determinar a volatilidade calculou-se: o desvio padrão do retorno logaritmizado (27,06), a média (0,0883), valores dos movimentos ascendentes (u) 1,3107 com probabilidade de ocorrência de 61,34% e descendentes (d) 0,7628 com probabilidade de 38,66%. O valor da opção em caso de abandono foi de R$ 2.059,01/ha positivo. Os resultados mostraram que o VPL superestimou o retorno do projeto e que seria viável abandoná-lo.

ABSTRACT In this study we compared the values generated by traditional economic analysis (Net Present Value - NPV) with Real Options Method. The objective was to apply the method proposed by Copeland & Antikarov for rainbow options, due to three stochastic variables selected with decision of abandonment if the project value with flexibility was less than the value of the underlying stock. It enabled the flexibility value generation in order to entrepreneurs to have more confidence in their decision when they are investing in a project with Agroforestry System, with different scenarios visualization in a single analysis. The results evidenced that the economic viability analysis, using Real Options, provided the best view of the possible scenarios, within a range generated by the prices volatility. The Net Present Value adopted as the underlying stock value was R$ 5,684.32, using the discount rate (WACC) of 9.95% and risk-free interest rate of 7.5%. To determine the volatility were calculated: the logarithmic return standard deviation (27.06), the average (0.0883), upward movements values (u) (1.3107) with 61.34% of probability and downward movements values (d)(0.7628) with 38.66% of probability. The option value in case of abandonment was R$ 2,059.01/ha positive. The results showed that the NPV overestimated the project return and that it would be viable to abandon it.

Nas últimas décadas, a carga tributária brasileira tem sido objeto de discussão no meio acadêmico. Em 2008, a relação Tributos/PIB atingiu o índice de países da OCDE, apesar de o Brasil encontrar-se socialmente em nível inferior aos referidos países. Realizou-se, neste trabalho, uma análise na discriminação e quantificação dos tributos incidentes sobre a produção carvoeira. Onze tributos foram analisados: ECRRA, TF, COFINS, PIS, IRPJ, CSLL, ITR, TCFA, TFAMG, INSS e FGTS. O impacto tributário foi igual a 9,76% sobre o faturamento. Não houve incidência de tributos municipais. Os tributos estaduais representaram 10% da carga tributária com predomínio da taxa florestal estadual, o restante da tributação é de competência federal. A COFINS foi o maior tributo: 3%, corroborando a regressividade do sistema tributário brasileiro. Dentro do Estado de Minas Gerais, o ICMS do carvão vegetal é diferido, estando o produtor rural desobrigado de recolhê-lo, ficando essa responsabilidade a cargo dos adquirentes.

In past decades, the Brazilian tax burden has been the subject of discussion and analysis in the academic, political and social arena. In 2008, Brazilian tax burden reached the tax level from OECD countries, although the social issue in Brazil is in lower level than those countries. This paper has analyzed the tax burden from charcoal production. Eleven kinds of taxes were analyzed: IRPJ, ITR, CSLL, COFINS, PIS, TF, TCFA, TFAMG, ECRRA, INSS and FGTS. The tax burden for the production of charcoal was 9.76%. There was no municipal tax for charcoal. State taxes accounted 10% of the tax burden, the rest are federal taxes. COFINS was responsible for the largest tax burden: 3%, which confirms the Brazilian tax system is very non progressive. In Minas Gerais, Brazilian tax on goods and services (ICMS) is deferred, the charcoal buyer has the obligation to collect this tax. This means the steel company accounts for the total burden of ICMS.

Objetivou-se neste estudo analisar a viabilidade econômica e determinar a rotação econômica de plantios de candeia em diversos espaçamentos, em condições de risco. O estudo foi realizado a partir de um experimento de plantio de candeia constituído de quatro espaçamentos (1,5 x 1,5 m; 1,5 x 2,0 m; 1,5 x 2,5 m e 1,5 x 3,0 m), para os quais se obtiveram os fluxos de caixa relacionados às diversas idades de corte. Para a análise de risco utilizou-se o método de Monte Carlo, tendo como variável de saída (output) o Valor Anual Equivalente (VAE) e, como variáveis de entrada (fontes de incertezas), as distribuições de probabilidade referentes ao preço da muda, da terra e da madeira, o custo de colheita, a taxa de juros e a produção de madeira. A simulação constitui na realização 50.000 de iterações, de onde foram extraídas as informações necessárias às análises. Concluiu-se que o espaçamento 1,5x3,0 m foi o mais viável economicamente e teve um nível de risco menor que os outros espaçamentos. A rotação econômica foi de 12, 13, 13 e 15 anos, para o espaçamento 1,5 x 3,0 m; 1,5 x 2,5 m; 1,5 x 2,0 m e 1,5 x 1,5 m, respectivamente. As informações obtidas acerca dos riscos econômicos envolvidos no plantio de candeia servem como ferramenta de auxílio na tomada de decisões em relação a novos plantios dessa espécie e também como base para futuros experimentos com a mesma, visando o aprimoramento de seu cultivo.

The general objective of this paper was studying the economic feasibility and determining the economic rotation of candeia planting at various spacings under risky conditions. The study was conducted from an experimental planting of candeia consisting of four spacings (1.5 x 1.5 m, 1.5 x 2.0 m, 1.5 x 2.5 m and 1.5 x 3.0 m) for which the cash flows related to the different cutting ages were obtained. For the risk analysis the Monte Carlo method was used, its having the Equivalent Annual Value (EAV) as the output variable (output) and as input variables (sources of uncertainty) the probability distributions concerning the price of the seedlings, land and wood, the harvest cost, interest rates and timber production. The simulation constituted in the doing of 50,000 iterations from where the information necessary to the analyses was extracted. It was concluded that the 1.5 x 3.0 m spacing was the most economically viable and presented a lower risk level than the other spacings. The economic rotation was 12, 13, 13 and 15 years for the spacings 1.5 x 3.0 m, 1.5 x 2.5 m, 1.5 x 2.0m and 1.5 x 1.5m, respectively. Information obtained about the economic risks involved in planting candle serve as a tool to aid in making decisions regarding new plantings of this species and also as a basis for future experiments with the same, seeking to improve its culture.

Nesse estudo, objetivou-se estabelecer o custo de produção da unidade energética gerada pela biomassa do eucalipto (Eucalyptus sp.), em diferentes tratamentos silviculturais, e pela biomassa do capim-elefante (Pennisetum sp.), e aplicar uma análise de sensibilidade para verificar as influências de fatores como o tratamento silvicultural do eucalipto, a produção volumétrica de cada espécie, o custo da terra e a taxa de juros nos custos de produção analisados. Foi demonstrado que o tratamento do eucalipto em plantio adensado e em curtíssima rotação de dois anos, com reforma do povoamento a cada seis anos, teve um custo médio de produção (CMPr) superior ao sistema convencional com rotação a cada seis anos e reforma aos 18. Observou-se, também, que o eucalipto apresenta, em média, um CMPr de R$ 4,41/Gj, inferior ao do capim-elefante, que, em média, é de R$ 5,44/Gj, mesmo com a capacidade que o último tem de produção anual superior de matéria seca. O capim-elefante tem a possibilidade de competir com o eucalipto quando um conjunto de condições se forma como taxa de juros igual ou superior a 8% a.a., preço da terra elevado e volume do capim-elefante igual ou acima de 35 toneladas de matéria seca por hectare por ano.

This work established the unit energy cost generated from biomass of eucalyptus (Eucalyptus sp.) and elephant grass (Pennisetum sp.) and applied a sensitivity analysis to verify the influences of factors such as the silviculture of eucalyptus, production volume of each species, the cost of land and the interest rate. It was shown that the treatment of eucalyptus in very short rotation of 2 years with reform of stand every 6 years has a average cost of production higher than the traditional treatment of short rotation of 6 years with reform only at the age of 18. It was also observed that eucalyptus has a Production Cost on average of R$ 4,41 /Gj, lower than the elephant grass which is on average of R$ 5,44/Gj, which however has a higher annual capacity of dry matter production. The elephant grass has the possibility to compete with eucalyptus when a set of conditions is met: discount rate higher than or equal to 8%, High price of land, and elephant grass high volume production, greater than or equal to 35 tonnes of dry matter per hectare and year.
